Overview

The University of Texas at Austin Police Department (UTPD) is a recognized state police agency dedicated to serving the university community around the clock. UTPD comprises various divisions, including investigations, K-9 units, and a dedicated dispatch center. Your expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency and improving the overall experience for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with UTPD leadership to oversee the department's financial operations, including budget preparation and management.
  • Ensure proper account management by monitoring unit codes and subunit codes, facilitating timely account requests and inactivations.
  • Maintain comprehensive financial records for all departmental accounts, tracking commitments and conducting regular transaction reviews.
  • Support effective financial planning and budgeting processes, ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Act as a resource for travel, payment vouchers, and event billing, providing guidance and training to staff.
  • Serve as the liaison to Business and Financial Services for payment requests and travel reimbursements.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, including monthly summaries and annual forecasts, in collaboration with relevant specialists.
  • Manage vendor setup for event security services, ensuring accurate billing and payment processing.
  • Oversee Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) documentation, ensuring compliance and timely updates.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in financial analysis and accounting.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and software quickly.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the financial systems and accounting procedures of the University of Texas.
  • Familiarity with travel and invoicing processes.
  • Knowledge of procurement and audit processes within the university.
Compensation:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

Work Schedule:

Standard office hours with occasional evening or weekend commitments.
