Role Purpose

The Financial Analyst serves as a key liaison for business and financial services within the University of Texas at Austin Police Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with UTPD leadership to oversee departmental budgets and financial planning.
  • Manage account structures, ensuring timely requests and adjustments while monitoring balances and recommending transfers.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, conduct monthly reviews, and address discrepancies in account balances.
  • Support financial planning and budgeting processes in compliance with university standards.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on travel, payment processing, and event billing.
  • Provide training and resources on financial procedures within the university.
  • Serve as a liaison to Business and Financial Services for payment requests and travel reimbursements.
  • Prepare financial reports, including monthly summaries and forecasts, in collaboration with relevant specialists.
  • Manage vendor setup for event security services and ensure accurate billing.
  • Oversee Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) documentation and monitor compliance.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in financial analysis and accounting.
  • Proficiency in financial planning, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with U/T Define, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Relevant education and experience may be considered as substitutes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the University of Texas financial systems and procedures.
  • Experience with travel and invoice processing.
  • Knowledge of procurement and audit processes.
Salary Range

$65,000 + based on qualifications.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
