Key Responsibilities

The Construction Financial Manager will oversee all financial operations related to construction, ensuring precise and timely financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and treasury management. This role will also involve collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer to establish and uphold financial procedures and controls while spearheading company initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing accounting operations by developing policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are properly controlled and documented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Generating monthly financial reports that accurately summarize and project company activities and financial standing.
  • Creating budgets and forecasts to analyze cash flow, identify trends, and monitor variances to mitigate risks and improve financial outcomes.
  • Supervising the integrity of the general ledger and financial accounting systems.
  • Establishing and maintaining supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts.
  • Advising on distributions based on available cash and anticipated future cash needs.
  • Leading the review of financial statements and assisting with tax return preparations, including the creation of necessary support schedules.
  • Setting up accounting records for new entities and maintaining organizational charts.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to accounting team members.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, with at least five (5) years in the construction sector, and three (3) years supervising construction accounting teams; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred CPA and/or CCIFP certification.
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles and functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Sage 300 CRE, Procore, and/or Textura.
