Position Summary:

This pivotal role is designed for a high-growth environment, focusing on accounting functions and processes associated with revenue and cost recognition under the percentage-of-completion method, compliant with both IFRS and U.S. GAAP. The position will also contribute to the financial reporting framework related to construction accounting across North America.

Reporting Structure:

The successful candidate will report directly to the VP Controller and collaborate closely with our external CPA firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the daily functions of the North American accounting division concerning construction projects.
  • Prepare and manage monthly financial reports in accordance with IFRS and GAAP, including detailed project workpapers and summaries.
  • Ensure timely and precise submission of monthly financial documents related to revenue and cost recognition.
  • Establish a monthly review process to guarantee the accuracy of account reconciliations for construction projects.
  • Enhance and manage month-end closing procedures for construction-related entities.
  • Support the construction accounting process, including the evaluation of journal entries and complex accounting transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation related to revenue and cost recognition.
  • Facilitate the annual audit process for public reporting obligations in the construction sector.
  • Implement and uphold financial reporting protocols for projects based on the percentage-of-completion method.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process for construction initiatives.
  • Assist in automating construction accounting workflows within the company's ERP system.
  • Engage in additional projects and activities as required.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory reporting standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, with a CPA designation and prior experience in public accounting.
  • Proven experience in financial and management reporting on a global scale.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS standards.
  • Extensive accounting experience with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with global entities, including foreign currency transactions and inter-company reconciliations.
  • Prior managerial experience in organizations with long-term infrastructure projects, emphasizing project accounting and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
  • Strong execution skills to deliver complete and accurate outputs in a timely manner.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proactive and flexible in a fast-paced work environment.
