Avionics Systems Specialist - Aircraft Maintenance (Avionics Technician)

Overview:
The Avionics Systems Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and repair of aircraft avionics and electronic systems. This role involves diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and ensuring the operational integrity of avionics systems on EC37B aircraft. The specialist will also support the maintenance of associated Mission Support Equipment as needed. Reporting to the Lead Avionics Technician, this position is crucial for maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing, inspection, and repair of avionics systems and components on Gulfstream EC37B aircraft.
- Repair and maintain aircraft wiring and harnesses.
- Perform operational checks of avionics systems during pre-flight and post-flight procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies reported by flight and maintenance crews to ensure aircraft readiness.
- Assist in the launch, recovery, servicing, and ground handling of aircraft.
- Execute scheduled and unscheduled inspections in accordance with OEM guidelines.
- Maintain accurate aircraft maintenance records and historical documentation.
- Utilize the maintenance database system for tracking maintenance actions and manpower.
- Review maintenance data reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Follow technical manuals and orders for troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct in-progress inspections during maintenance activities.
- Research and procure necessary aircraft parts for repairs.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Adhere to safety, environmental, and security standards at all times.
- Participate in training and mentoring of new personnel as required.
- Maintain compliance with all required policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a minimum of eight (8) years of hands-on avionics maintenance experience. A current FAA A&P Certificate is preferred. Completion of a military or civilian aviation avionics technical program or possession of an FCC License with endorsements is advantageous.
Experience with Gulfstream, Global Jet, or business jet avionics systems is highly desirable, particularly with Honeywell Primus systems. Candidates should have a solid background in the repair and maintenance of radar, communication systems, navigation aids, and instrumentation.
Applicants must demonstrate a positive attitude, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team environment. Flexibility to work shifts and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team is essential, including potential CONUS and OCONUS deployments.
Physical fitness is required to pass a physical exam and complete necessary training prior to deployment. Candidates must be able to work in a dynamic environment, adhering to shift schedules as needed.
Knowledge of aircraft safety directives and the ability to interpret technical publications is crucial. Proficiency in using standard maintenance databases is expected.
Applicants must hold a valid driver's license and be eligible to obtain a government flight line driver's license. A DoD secret government security clearance is also required prior to hire.
