POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Avionics Systems Specialist plays a pivotal role in mentoring and guiding F-16 Avionics and Electrical Environmental Technicians. This position involves facilitating the integration of new operational tasks into the facility and pinpointing areas for enhancing site efficiency. The specialist is accountable for the depot-level modification, enhancement, and testing of aircraft sub-systems, ensuring compliance with airworthiness standards. Responsibilities encompass inspecting, testing, modifying, and repairing avionic and other electrical systems/sub-systems, including radar, radio, navigation, and aircraft power systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mentor and train fellow F-16 Avionics and Electro-Environmental Technicians.
  • Aid in the creation of work documentation, including work cards and job aids.
  • Modify, upgrade, inspect, test, and repair aircraft avionic and electrical systems using hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Examine components of avionic and electrical systems for defects and ensure proper assembly and installation.
  • Utilize hand tools to adjust, repair, or replace components according to technical documents.
  • Operate ground servicing equipment to test and verify the functionality and airworthiness of avionic systems when necessary.
  • Assist in the fabrication of wiring harnesses as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all activities, including electronic records.
  • Engage effectively with program and customer representatives, as well as military personnel on-site.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Educational background includes one of the following:
    - Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
    - Associate's degree with 4 years of relevant experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
    - High School Diploma with 8 years of relevant experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
  • Preference for candidates with F-16 experience, though other fighter jet experience may be considered.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience with 5th generation aircraft is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying items weighing over 50 lbs, including navigating stairs and maintenance platforms.
  • Requires regular standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must possess adequate vision and hearing, or utilize prosthetics to ensure these senses function properly to meet job requirements.
