Raytheon Careers is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Department Manager to lead the Flight Avionics Department. As a key member of the Raytheon Engineering team, you will be responsible for the overall performance and effectiveness of the department.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance, coaching, and leadership to Section Leads, Chief Engineers, and team members to ensure effective communications and program execution.
- Review proposals and utilize EVMS techniques to manage programs.
- Ensure appropriate staff development through effective performance management, including goal setting, career development, compensation, employee learning, and developmental task assignments.
- Provide engineering oversight to programs supported by the department through the planning and leadership of project design reviews and peer reviews.
- Lead and manage department staff, recruiting, hiring, retaining, and developing effective engineers and engineering leaders.
- Create, capture, and analyze metrics to manage associated organizational and program performance.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), Physics, or a related engineering degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior related work experience.
- 12+ years of engineering experience, to include at least 6 years of leadership roles (i.e., technical and/or management background).
- Work experience in one or more of the following areas: analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support; RF product and subassembly design, integration, and production support; electro-optical product and subassembly design, integration, and production support.
- Experience with EVMS, development of budgets, task planning, milestone development, and budget management.
- Experience in design compliance during design/development and production.
- Experience utilizing cost, schedule, and performance tools for managing projects and program planning.
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related engineering degree.
- Expert knowledge and experience leading a multi-disciplined department.
- Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
- Able to network/influence outside of the Flight Avionics Department with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines, and manufacturing organizations.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
- Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
- Ability to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities.
