The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a licensed and Board Certified professional in internal or family medicine, playing a pivotal role in our clinical operations. This position involves providing direct patient care and conducting assessments primarily in an outpatient healthcare setting, with occasional responsibilities in acute care and other facilities as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

The CMO's duties encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive geriatric assessments, including medical history and physical examinations.
  • Diagnosing and treating patients, developing individualized care plans, and providing health education.
  • Making specialty referrals and managing case referrals, ensuring thorough follow-up and documentation in line with ChenMed's quality standards.
  • Participating in clinical rounds and conferences, contributing to in-depth documentation through progress notes and summaries.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and participation in quality management programs.

The CMO will be expected to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, consulting with managers and medical directors to uphold departmental goals and regulatory compliance.


Essential Duties:
  • Functioning as a primary care leader within a patient care team, independently assessing clinical issues and implementing management plans.
  • Managing patient care through writing orders, interpreting diagnostic studies, and coordinating referrals to specialists.
  • Enhancing patient advocacy and education, ensuring that patients and families are well-informed about treatment goals and options.
  • Utilizing advanced communication skills to address complex situations and improve healthcare delivery processes.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty.
  • Current, active medical licensure in the state of employment.
  • Board Certification or eligibility in the relevant specialty.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting, with leadership experience preferred.
