Position Overview

Old Point National Bank, a robust community banking institution with assets totaling $1.4 billion, is committed to delivering outstanding financial services while fostering the growth of the communities we serve. We are in search of a seasoned and proactive Senior Vice President of Finance to become an integral part of our executive leadership team.

As the Senior Vice President of Finance, you will be pivotal in steering the financial trajectory of Old Point. Your responsibilities will encompass the management of all financial operations, including strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of community banking, a proven history of enhancing financial performance, and the capability to lead and motivate a high-achieving team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Formulate financial strategies by providing insightful financial and accounting data, analysis, and recommendations to align with the organization's strategic objectives.
  2. Enhance the financial health of the organization through comprehensive financial projections, effective accounting services, and the development of growth initiatives.
  3. Establish operational finance strategies by assessing trends, setting critical performance metrics, and designing systems to optimize productivity and service quality.
  4. Identify and analyze economic trends and revenue opportunities to drive organizational growth and efficiency.
  5. Oversee risk management related to interest rates and funds management.
  6. Monitor financial performance through rigorous analysis and initiate corrective measures to address variances.
  7. Maximize returns on investments by identifying opportunities and maintaining strong relationships within the investment community.
  8. Collaborate with the Board of Directors on financial strategies and participate in relevant Board Committees.
  9. Ensure the timely preparation of budgets and financial reports to assist senior management in strategic decision-making.
  10. Uphold the integrity of corporate governance policies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  11. Foster staff development and performance management to build a motivated and effective team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a commercial banking environment.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage performance effectively.
