Job Overview

The Chief People Officer serves as a pivotal strategic ally to the CEO and the executive leadership team, playing a crucial role in shaping organizational strategy, defining priorities, and establishing performance benchmarks across the company. This role encompasses the oversight of human resources operations as well as the development and implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Position Title: Chief People Officer

Department: Human Resources

Employment Type: Full-time; 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday (Exempt)

Compensation: $180,000-$200,000/year

Key Responsibilities:

The Chief People Officer will:

  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team to define long-term strategic goals and operational plans.
  • Advise the President and CEO on the development and performance management of the executive team.
  • Support the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors with necessary insights and data.
  • Lead the continuous enhancement of human resources practices and systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee investigations related to workplace misconduct and ensure respectful communication with affected parties.
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Manage the human resources information systems and related software platforms.
  • Develop key performance metrics for human resources and talent management.
  • Mentor and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of high performance.
  • Facilitate staff development plans to support workforce growth and organizational objectives.
  • Promote Lifeworks' culture and values to attract and retain top talent.
  • Represent the human resources function to external stakeholders.
  • Engage in professional development to stay current with industry trends.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, with a minimum of ten years of experience, including seven years in a management role.
  • Master's degree and relevant certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and project management.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across various organizational levels.
  • Ability to operate independently while consulting when necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on empathy and inclusivity.
  • Experience in financial management and employment law.
  • Proficiency in HRIS technology and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening is required.
