Position Overview

The Campus Engagement Coordinator for Promotion and Special Events acts as the key staff member during events that may occur outside of regular hours, including evenings and weekends. This role is essential in fostering communication with faculty and staff regarding operational procedures of the office. The coordinator assists in managing event registrations, overseeing event execution, and creating engaging social media content, as well as designing promotional materials for the office.

This is a part-time, grant-supported position.

Qualifications

  1. Educational Background: An Associate Degree is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  2. Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working with students in a higher education environment is required. Preference will be given to candidates with graduate or professional experience. Experience in large-scale event planning is highly desirable.
  3. Special Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, design, and organizational skills are essential. The candidate must be able to collaborate effectively with various college departments and other organizations in coordinating co-curricular programs. A strong background in social media and marketing is also necessary.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Event Programming and Promotion
    1. Assist in coordinating orientation programs for both traditional and non-traditional students, as well as other specific populations.
    2. Contribute to the distribution of the college's publications and assist in creating content for various communication channels.
    3. Lead evening programs and events on campus, serving as the primary content creator for online and remote student engagement.
    4. Collaborate with the Activities Committee to enhance marketing efforts.
    5. Work with the Director of Clubs and Organizations to establish effective communication methods with club advisors.
    6. Meet regularly with the marketing director to support student groups.
    7. Partner with key offices to develop and coordinate campus programs and services.
    8. Manage all student-generated content for marketing and promotional purposes.
    9. Collect and analyze data on student programming for assessment and improvement.
  2. Supervision
    1. Serve as the front desk representative, providing information and referrals to the campus community.
    2. Assist in training and supervising student workers within the Student Life Office.
  3. Facilities Management
    1. Coordinate the setup of facilities for student-sponsored programs outside of regular business hours.
    2. Oversee the college's posting policy and manage the approval process for promotional materials.
  4. Additional Duties
    1. Collaborate with the Assistant Director to maintain and update the Office of Student Life's web presence.
    2. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to use a computer for extended periods and to assist with event setup and breakdown.

Compensation and Benefits:

  1. Starting hourly wage is $21.50, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  2. Part-time hours per week.
  3. Participation in NYS Retirement and SUNY Voluntary Savings Plan.
