Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

A. Deliver professional assistance to students and families seeking guidance on financial aid processes, including FAFSA completion and maintaining eligibility.
B. Support students and families with FAFSA and state financial aid applications through both in-person and virtual interactions.
C. Organize and schedule FAFSA outreach events at the College and local high schools within the service area.
D. Engage proactively with students and families regarding FAFSA completion through phone calls, event attendance, postcard mailings, and classroom visits.
E. Communicate with the Department of Public Relations and Community Affairs regarding FAFSA events.
F. Maintain accurate records of all events and participants in the designated system.
G. Regularly collect, organize, analyze, and present FAFSA completion data in a clear and meaningful way.
H. Apply critical thinking skills to evaluate the FAFSA completion process and recommend enhancements.
I. Coordinate the schedule of FAFSA Completion Corps Federal Work Study students to ensure effective support for events.
J. Stay informed about state and federal financial aid regulations to provide up-to-date information to students and families.
K. Assist with general financial aid communications directed at students.
L. Help with the scanning and indexing of financial aid documents into the designated system.
M. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Institutional Alignment:

The primary role of the Financial Aid Specialist is to guide students through the financial aid application process, ensuring they receive the necessary support to secure funding for their education. This position is vital in enhancing student access to financial aid resources, promoting student retention and success, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

  1. Qualifications:
    1. Education: An Associate's degree is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
    2. Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant paid experience is required. Office experience is essential, and familiarity with financial aid processes is preferred.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this part-time position is $25.06.
