Position Overview

The Campus Engagement Coordinator for Events and Promotions acts as the key staff member on campus during various activities that may occur outside of regular hours, including weekends. This role is essential in facilitating communication with faculty and staff regarding operational procedures of the office. The coordinator assists in managing event registrations, overseeing event execution, and creating marketing materials and social media content for the office.

This is a part-time, grant-supported position.

Qualifications

  1. Educational Background: An Associate Degree is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  2. Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working with students in a higher education environment is required. Preference will be given to candidates with graduate or professional experience, particularly in large event planning.
  3. Special Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, design, and organizational skills are essential. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with various college departments and have a solid background in social media and marketing.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Event Programming and Promotion
    1. Assist in coordinating orientation programs for both traditional and non-traditional students, including specific target groups.
    2. Contribute to the distribution of college publications and digital communications.
    3. Lead evening programs and events on campus, serving as the primary content creator for online and remote student populations.
    4. Collaborate with the Activities Committee to enhance marketing efforts.
    5. Work with the Director of Clubs and Organizations to ensure effective communication with club advisors.
    6. Meet regularly with the Student Corporation Director of Marketing to support student groups.
    7. Partner with key offices to develop and coordinate campus programs and services.
    8. Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials across various platforms.
    9. Collect and analyze data related to student programming for assessment purposes.
  2. Supervision
    1. Serve as the primary contact at the Front Desk, providing information and referrals to the campus community.
    2. Assist in training and supervising student workers within the Student Life Office.
  3. Facilities Management
    1. Coordinate the setup of facilities for student-sponsored programs outside of normal business hours.
    2. Manage the posting policy and approval process for promotional materials.
  4. Additional Duties
    1. Collaborate with the Assistant Director to maintain and update the Office of Student Life's web presence.
    2. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to use a computer for extended periods and to assist with event setup and breakdown.

Compensation and Benefits:

  1. Starting hourly rate is $21.50, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  2. Part-time hours per week.
  3. Eligibility for NYS Retirement and SUNY Voluntary Savings Plan.
  4. Access to Employee Assistance Program.
