Job Summary

Cayuga Centers is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Preservation Counselor to join our team. As a Family Preservation Counselor, you will work with families who are at risk of foster care placement or require intensive therapeutic services. Your primary goal will be to support families in creating a stronger, more stable environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide home-based, solution-focused case management support and crisis interventions to individuals and families.
  • Utilize research-based cognitive and behavioral strategies to facilitate behavior change.
  • Assess safety and structure the environment to promote safety.
  • Model and teach basic life skills to empower individuals and families to become self-sufficient.
  • Coordinate and facilitate parent and adolescent groups.
  • Carry a full caseload of 2-3 families assigned.
  • Assist individuals and families by referring them to appropriate longer-term services and supports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with applicable experience in the human services field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work with families in an 'in-home' context.
  • Knowledge of family systems theory and home-based interventions.
  • Ability to engage families who may not want the service or who are mandated.
