Arizona Youth Engagement Coordinator

ROLE SUMMARY:
NextGen America is on the lookout for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to contribute to our youth organizing initiative in Arizona. This position focuses on mobilizing young voters and enhancing their involvement in the electoral process by facilitating voter registration across the state. Our mission is to empower individuals aged 18-35 to actively participate in democracy.

PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: The specific location will be assigned upon hiring. This role requires in-person engagement on your designated campus as per the outlined schedule.
In Arizona, our efforts are directed towards rallying young individuals on campuses and in nearby communities to foster progressive change through voting. Responsibilities include leading voter registration drives, recruiting volunteers, and encouraging young people to commit to voting. Organizers must be adept at mobilizing their communities, expanding their volunteer networks, and inspiring local leaders to assist in registration and mobilization efforts. You will oversee a team of volunteers to achieve weekly and phase-specific goals.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 25% outside of assigned area
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Achieve established field objectives, including voter registration, grassroots outreach, and event planning.
- Adhere to all data and field reporting timelines.
- Engage in direct organizing efforts, including voter outreach at businesses, campuses, and NextGen-sponsored events.
- Collaborate with college administrations to boost civic engagement and voter registration within the campus community.
- Recruit volunteers through various outreach methods to support organizing initiatives.
- Establish NextGen student clubs on campuses and collaborate with student leaders to manage these clubs and organize events.
- Build relationships with local community and student organizations.
- Plan and execute events within the community, on campus, and online.
- Recruit and train a local volunteer team to organize around voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaigns.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY:
This role follows a structured schedule as defined in the collective bargaining agreement. The schedule may vary throughout the year, and applicants should be prepared for the following:
- Approximately 8-10 hours per day, 5 days a week.
- General availability for weekends and irregular hours.
- Increased hours during significant events, such as campus welcome weeks and voter registration deadlines, potentially requiring 10-12 hours per day, 6 days a week.
- Extended hours leading up to major elections, with a potential schedule of up to 12 hours per day, 7 days a week.

- Ability to work independently and remotely.

- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Capability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Previous experience in electoral organizing is advantageous.

SALARY DETAILS:
The salary for this position is set at $4,632.50/month, as per the collective bargaining agreement.
