Position Overview

The Chief of Pediatric Services provides comprehensive leadership and strategic direction for the organization’s pediatric programs. This role includes direct oversight of pediatric services directors and is accountable for the development and management of program budgets. The Chief ensures that our service offerings maintain the highest standards of quality and engages in continuous quality improvement initiatives across all pediatric programs. Additionally, this position is responsible for exploring and establishing new business opportunities within the pediatric sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safeguard the rights and dignity of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, extending these principles to their families and guardians.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and policies to ensure a secure environment for staff, clients, families, and visitors.
  • Commit to organizational quality standards by developing and participating in initiatives aimed at quality enhancement and team collaboration.
  • Supervise and guide staff in delivering high-quality support services, including conducting timely performance evaluations, managing employee relations, and overseeing hiring processes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all activities in compliance with billing requirements, agency policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the certification, licensing, and credentialing of all programs in line with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the organization at community events and external meetings to bolster the organization’s public profile and reputation.
  • Participate in treatment planning and monitor progress when additional clinical expertise is warranted.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and CEO to develop, oversee, and ensure sound financial management of program budgets.
  • Investigate and cultivate new, complementary business lines within the pediatric services sector.
  • Build relationships with local academic institutions to establish a practical and relevant research program that benefits agency clients and operations.
  • Engage interns and staff to foster a culture of inquiry and service through research initiatives.
  • Maintain professional development through participation in relevant organizations, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Organize and host an annual professional conference focused on innovative practices in pediatric services.
  • Evaluate the overall structure of programs to facilitate effective collaboration among various disciplines and departments.
  • Adhere to all agency guidelines and department-specific policies as outlined in the personnel manual.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor that align with the organization’s mission and objectives.

Internal and External Relationships

Internal: Collaborate with other organizational members in areas of expertise.

External: Coordinate and lead meetings as necessary, and participate in interagency and statewide activities as directed.

Working Conditions

The role involves working in natural settings, center-based, and home-based interventions, requiring local travel. The work environment includes general office conditions, utilizing computers, telephones, and other office equipment, with frequent interactions with children and families.

Physical Requirements

The ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities is necessary. The role requires managing a variety of individual and programmatic issues, with frequent sitting, standing, and walking. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds is also required.

Qualifications

Education: A master’s degree in a relevant field is required; a terminal degree or professional licensure is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in managing pediatric clinical programs.

Skills: Experience working with children with diverse diagnoses, including intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. Current safety care and CPR certifications are required. A valid driver’s license, safe driving record, automobile insurance, and access to a vehicle are necessary for transportation as needed.
