The Assistant EHS Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure workplace for all employees, ensuring it is devoid of recognized dangers. This position involves leveraging regional analytical data concerning OSHA Incident Rates, Workers Compensation Reserves, and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) incidents to implement EHS strategies and foster a robust EHS culture across the region. The Assistant EHS Manager will align with the Corporate EHS Strategy to address regional EHS requirements, ensuring compliance with corporate standards across multiple facilities in various states. This includes responsibilities related to training and education, documentation, audits, hazard assessments, and tracking and reporting of injuries and incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and delivers training, education, and awareness (TEA) programs for employees and management.
  • Gathers reporting data for environmental and hazardous substance information to meet EPA Tier-II and reporting obligations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with warehouse powered industrial trucks and equipment is essential.
  • Knowledge of the following regulations is required: CFR29 Labor (OSHA), CFR40 Environmental (EPA), and CFR49 Transportation (DOT).
  • Understanding of the storage, handling, and transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of NFPA regulations concerning flammable liquids, corrosives, etc.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions for diverse audiences within the organization.
  • Competence in developing and reviewing training materials.
  • Proven skills in presentation and facilitation.
  • Ability to draft reports and correspondence effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to interpret various forms of instructions, whether written, oral, or diagrammatic.
