Position Overview:
The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in leading and overseeing safety and loss prevention initiatives within the organization. Reporting directly to the EHS Operations Leader, this position is vital for fostering a culture of safety and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the mill's safety, security, and health service programs.
  • Propose modifications to mitigate safety hazards and health risks.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage the Emergency Response Team and coordinate all related training.
  • Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and maintain fire safety systems.
  • Facilitate communication regarding workplace safety, including onboarding for new employees.
  • Provide Health & Safety support across manufacturing areas, leading the development of effective solutions to safety challenges.
  • Manage injury case investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Drive strategic initiatives aimed at achieving an accident-free workplace while enhancing operational efficiency.

Qualifications:
  • Technical expertise in OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven track record of team building and collaboration.
  • Strong skills in executing work according to established standards and procedures.
  • Effective meeting facilitation and conflict management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to influence and lead safety initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A degree in safety or a related technical/science field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of safety experience, ideally within the paper industry.
