Job Overview

Position Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
Employment Type: Salary / Non Exempt

Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for executing daily tasks as directed by management, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental protocols at Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System, LLC. Your primary focus will be on addressing safety and environmental issues swiftly, implementing preventive safety strategies, and facilitating effective communication between management and employees. Strong time management and communication abilities are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out all tasks in compliance with Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System, LLC's safety and environmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with teams to ensure timely resolution of safety concerns.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and adherence to company, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Organize and coordinate mandatory safety training sessions for employees.
  • Utilize company document management systems to maintain essential safety and environmental documentation.
  • Keep OSHA safety logs up to date.
  • Engage in proactive planning with management and respond promptly to any concerns.
  • Employ ISO 14001 and ISO SAP standards as necessary.
  • Function effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Acquire knowledge of various tasks related to the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist role.
  • Comply with Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System, LLC's safety and environmental policies and standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the employee experience.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Exhibit honesty, integrity, and maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness.
  • Report directly to the EHS Assistant Manager.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: A four-year degree in Occupational Safety or a related field, or a minimum of six years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to EHS.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, correspondence, and memos. Proficient in writing detailed correspondence and effectively presenting information in both one-on-one and small group settings to company leadership and other employees.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using computer applications including the Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
  • Progression: Demonstrated ability to advance towards acquiring fundamental skills outlined in the responsibilities section.

The employee is regularly required to stand and sit, and frequently required to communicate verbally or audibly. Occasional walking, sitting, and use of hands and arms may be necessary. Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds may be required occasionally. The noise level in the work environment is typically low. Travel is not a requirement for this position.
