Position Overview

AEC Resources is seeking a dedicated Hydrology Project Engineer to enhance our team. The ideal candidate will concentrate on stormwater management initiatives within the transportation sector, ensuring the proficient design and oversight of drainage systems for various infrastructure projects. This role is vital for promoting sustainable water management practices that improve the safety and durability of transportation developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Evaluation:
    • Create and develop drainage solutions for transportation initiatives, including highways, roads, and bridges.
    • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations to support project designs.
    • Employ software tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and evaluation tasks.
  • Project Oversight:
    • Lead and coordinate drainage initiatives from initial concept through to completion.
    • Draft project plans, specifications, and budget estimates.
    • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations and standards throughout project execution.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Engage with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, environmental specialists, and construction supervisors.
    • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and clients to fulfill project requirements.
    • Offer technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • Field Assessments and Inspections:
    • Conduct site evaluations and inspections to analyze existing drainage conditions and collect data for design purposes.
    • Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications.
    • Identify and address drainage-related challenges during the construction phase.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Compile technical reports, memoranda, and other necessary documentation.
    • Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation.
    • Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in hydrology engineering, with an emphasis on drainage and stormwater management.
    • Experience with transportation projects or Department of Transportation (DOT) initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM).
    • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant design applications.
    • Strong grasp of drainage design principles, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
