Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with the requirement for flexible evening and weekend hours as necessary.

Role Purpose: We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to join our team as a Pre-Trial Community Support Specialist. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to housing as a fundamental right and will be sensitive to issues of racial equity and diversity. This role involves building trust with clients, advocating for their needs, connecting them to community resources, and providing short-term case management aimed at securing stable housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Court Support Services Division to manage program referrals.
  • Facilitate housing discussions with clients to create personalized stabilization plans that address barriers to housing.
  • Deliver comprehensive case management services, including assessments, budgeting assistance, and referrals to community resources.
  • Guide clients in locating suitable housing options and utilizing available resources effectively.
  • Educate clients on housing laws, rights, and responsibilities associated with residential leases.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in required databases.
  • Maintain open communication with tenants, landlords, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct housing inspections and assess compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist clients in securing financial assistance for housing-related costs.
  • Document client progress and maintain organized records.
  • Provide transportation for clients when necessary.
  • Participate in community meetings as directed.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience conducting housing readiness assessments.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in social services or community support.
  • Experience working with justice-involved populations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with housing-first approaches and motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are encouraged to apply.

Licenses:

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage ranges from $23 to $25, commensurate with experience, along with an incentive compensation plan.
