Position Summary

As a member of the Community Renewal Team (CRT), you will become part of a dedicated workforce with an average tenure of 9 years. Many of our staff have celebrated over 20 years of service. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

JOB TITLE: Food Service Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Retreat

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY: $17.00

SUPERVISOR: Food Service Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following tasks represent the essential functions of this role. This list is not exhaustive and may include additional duties as assigned by management.

  • Set up and clear dining tables and arrange seating as necessary.
  • Prepare and serve various menu items (e.g., desserts, salads, beverages) to guests in a supportive manner, ensuring food service dispensers are adequately stocked.
  • Assist guests to ensure their safety during meals, including helping with mobility and removing potential hazards.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Wash dishes and operate the dishwasher to ensure proper sanitation.
  • Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Ensure proper disposal and recycling of waste materials according to regulations.
  • Prepare tables for the next dining service.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Complete additional tasks as required.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain confidentiality of all guest information while assisting coworkers and visitors respectfully.
  • Foster a pleasant dining atmosphere for guests during meals.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order for subsequent staff.
  • Utilize chemicals safely in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Recognize and report any changes in guests' behavior or condition to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Understand and follow cleaning schedules and safety protocols.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and respond appropriately.
  • Comply with infection control and safety guidelines as mandated by regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: Minimum of one year in a healthcare food service role or two years in a commercial or hospitality food service environment.

Certification: Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate (e.g., Serve Safe).

Skills: Excellent communication skills, particularly with individuals experiencing psychiatric conditions. Strong customer service abilities are essential.

Knowledge: Understanding of serving food and beverages while accommodating guests' physical and psychological needs. Ability to recognize changes in guests' conditions.

Bilingual: Preferred – Spanish language skills are a plus.
