Position Overview

South Shore Staffing is in search of a meticulous, technology-oriented, and collaborative professional to join our team as a full-time Finance Manager/Controller.

As the lead financial officer within our organization and a key member of the Operations team, you will collaborate closely with senior management and project leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing analysis and insights to leadership.
  • Guide the senior team in budget creation, monitoring, and forecasting.
  • Oversee cash flow management and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Supervise daily accounting operations, including cash management and Accounts Payable.
  • Manage the preparation and finalization of monthly client invoices, collaborating with management on Accounts Receivable and collections.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, including a staff accountant.
  • Coordinate payroll processes in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Reconcile various accounts, including bank, credit card, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and work in progress.
  • Oversee the external financial statement review and tax planning with external CPA firms.
  • Manage relationships with external professionals regarding ESOP and insurance matters.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements and tax obligations.
  • Act as the primary resource for Vantagepoint across the organization.
  • Facilitate project initiation and closure processes.
  • Maintain and update the firm’s accounting practices and procedures to align with GAAP standards, ensuring operational efficiency and safeguarding digital financial records.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and finance, with proven experience as a controller.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget generation and forecasting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for conveying financial information to management and senior staff.
  • Proficient in managing client billing, consultant costs, payroll, bank reconciliations, and cash flow strategies.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Experience in project-centric environments, with knowledge of project accounting and timekeeping.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Deltek Vantagepoint/Vision, Unanet, Core, or Ajera is preferred.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
