Position Overview:

We are in search of a seasoned finance leader with a hands-on approach and a strategic mindset to elevate our start-up portfolio company. The Senior Finance Executive will play a crucial role on the management team, acting as a strategic partner in financial matters. This role encompasses the development and implementation of financial policies to facilitate the company's growth while overseeing daily financial operations, including month-end closures, cash flow management, budgeting, and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the executive team to assess key scientific, operational, and manufacturing decisions and their financial implications.
  • Work alongside leadership to formulate long-term plans, milestones, and financial forecasts.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor annual budgets and monthly financial projections.
  • Manage cash flow in relation to financing requirements and strategic scientific objectives.
  • Establish robust reporting and billing systems to support commercial collaborations.
  • Prepare financial presentations for the Board of Directors and ensure corporate governance compliance.
  • Oversee month-end financial closings and reporting processes.
  • Build and lead a finance team to manage manufacturing, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
  • Handle leases, contracts, consulting agreements, and other financial obligations.
  • Continuously assess and enhance finance operations for improved efficiency.
  • Support unique projects and initiatives pertinent to a rapidly growing biotechnology start-up, including system upgrades and process enhancements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of financial and accounting experience within the life sciences or biotechnology sector.
  • Experience leading finance through a successful IPO is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience in finance leadership within a complex manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to critically analyze and interpret organizational strategies in financial terms.
  • Exceptional project management and leadership skills, with a track record of fostering team collaboration towards shared objectives.
  • Excellent presentation skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly to senior leadership.
