POSITION OVERVIEW

The BMS Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and validation of the Battery Management System (BMS), encompassing both hardware (HW) and software (SW) components aligned with Fluence's specifications.

This role involves close collaboration with the system-level controls team to guarantee the effective integration of the BMS within the Fluence operating framework.

The engineer will cultivate a collaborative atmosphere, working seamlessly with hardware, software, and testing teams, while actively engaging with other interfacing teams.

It is essential that the interfaces between batteries and related hardware/software are thoroughly understood and documented.
The individual in this position will lead a team dedicated to timely delivery and excellence in product launches, promoting a culture of accountability and pride in achieving high standards.

This role also requires outreach across the organization to collaborate with teams beyond Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the development and launch of the Battery Management System (BMS)
Define BMS requirements based on system specifications
Oversee and manage supplier development, including conducting design reviews.
Assist in product execution through development and validation testing

Facilitate UL and IEC certification processes for the BMS and battery systems by collaborating with suppliers and certification bodies.

Coordinate and provide insights to engineering and product teams regarding requirement updates and subsystem validation progress.
Diagnose BMS issues during system development
Collaborate with project management to monitor and uphold schedules.
Willingness to travel as necessary, up to 25%

B.S. in Engineering
4+ years of experience in the development and testing of battery management systems (BMS) across both HW and SW domains
Experience in managing supplier development
Proficiency in electrical/electronics HW validation
Familiarity with SW validation methodologies.
Technical expertise across various engineering disciplines (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Thermal, Materials, Safety, Test/Validation, Manufacturing)
Knowledge of UL 1973, UL 9540, IEC 61508, IEC 62619
Strong technical communication abilities
Passion for battery technology, knowledge sharing, and learning from peers
Demonstrated self-starter with a proactive approach.
