Position Overview

The Senior Systems Engineering Consultant plays a pivotal role within a multidisciplinary team focused on innovative energy storage technologies. This position demands a strong technical foundation in battery storage systems, particularly lithium-ion technology. Responsibilities encompass defining project specifications, architecting battery energy storage systems, selecting system components, assisting the business development unit, overseeing projects from conception to execution, and collaborating with the operations team.

Daily tasks involve working alongside Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to determine appropriate system components, establish system designs, assess battery system sizing throughout the project lifecycle, and create detailed bills of materials for cost assessment. Furthermore, you will oversee all technical elements during project implementation, from design through to installation, commissioning, and operational phases, serving as the primary engineering liaison.

  • Support internal business teams in engaging potential utility partners and regulatory authorities.
  • Identify and communicate business development needs.
  • Develop comprehensive system design schematics and layouts for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Act as the main contact for the project Owner's Engineer.
  • Ensure adherence to ENGIE's internal BESS guidelines.
  • Provide training to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) technicians and assist in troubleshooting system challenges.
  • Oversee engineering consultants' and contractors' electrical designs and construction, ensuring compliance with company policies, codes, and standards.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within the project team to achieve high-quality electrical engineering outcomes.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and regulatory developments, including codes, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Review system design sets for bidding, permitting, and construction in alignment with ENGIE standards, NEC, IEEE, and applicable local codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in renewable energy systems engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of battery technologies for storage applications, including inverters, transformers, substations, and energy management systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in battery storage technologies or renewable energy systems is advantageous.
  • Proficient in creating, interpreting, and analyzing construction plans and specifications.

Additional Information

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30% of the time, including occasional overnight trips.
  • Commitment to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety protocols.

Compensation

Salary Range: $112,000 - $172,500 USD annually. This range reflects the average expected pay for a qualified candidate. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, and internal pay alignment.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
