POSITION OVERVIEW

The BMS Engineer will take charge of the development and validation of the Battery Management System (BMS), encompassing both hardware (HW) and software (SW) in alignment with Fluence's specifications.

This role involves collaboration with the system-level controls team to ensure seamless integration of the BMS within the Fluence operating framework.

The leader will cultivate a collaborative environment, working closely with hardware, software, and testing teams, while proactively engaging with other departments.

They will ensure that the interfaces between batteries and related hardware/software are thoroughly understood and documented.
The individual in this position will lead a team that consistently meets deadlines and achieves high-quality launches. They will promote a culture of accountability and pride in delivering exceptional results.

This role will also involve cross-departmental collaboration with stakeholders beyond Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the development and rollout of the Battery Management System (BMS)
Define BMS requirements based on system specifications
Oversee and manage supplier development, including design evaluations.
Assist in product execution through development and validation testing

Facilitate UL and IEC certification of the BMS and battery system by collaborating with suppliers and certification bodies.

Coordinate and provide insights to engineering and product teams regarding requirements updates and subsystem validation progress.
Diagnose BMS issues during system development
Collaborate with project management to monitor and uphold schedules.
Travel may be required up to 25%

B.S. in Engineering
4+ years of experience in the development and testing of battery management systems (BMS) in both HW and SW domains
Experience in managing supplier development
Expertise in electrical/electronics HW validation
Familiarity with SW validation methodologies.
Technical knowledge across a wide range of engineering disciplines (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Thermal, Materials, Safety, Test/Validation, Manufacturing)
Experience with UL 1973, UL 9540, IEC 61508, IEC 62619
Strong technical communication abilities
Passion for batteries, knowledge sharing, and learning from peers
Proven self-starter with a proactive approach
