Position Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer plays a pivotal role within a dynamic team focused on pioneering energy storage innovations. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency in battery storage systems, particularly lithium-ion technologies. Responsibilities encompass determining project specifications, architecting battery energy storage systems, selecting system components, aiding the business development team, overseeing projects from conception to execution, and providing support to the operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to identify appropriate system components and define system architecture.
  • Calculate the battery system size throughout the project lifecycle and prepare detailed bills-of-material for cost assessments.
  • Manage all technical facets of project execution, ensuring compliance from design through installation, commissioning, and operation.
  • Engage with internal business teams to connect with potential utility partners and regulatory authorities.
  • Develop comprehensive system design drawings and layouts for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Act as the primary liaison with the project Owner's Engineer.
  • Ensure adherence to ENGIE's internal guidelines for BESS.
  • Provide training to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) technicians and assist in troubleshooting system challenges.
  • Oversee engineering consultants' and contractors' electrical designs and construction, ensuring alignment with company policies, codes, and standards.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while fostering teamwork to achieve project objectives.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and regulatory changes, including industry standards and best practices.
  • Review system drawings for bidding, permitting, and construction in accordance with ENGIE standards and relevant codes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in renewable systems engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of battery technologies for storage applications, including inverters, transformers, and energy management systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in battery storage technologies or renewable energy systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret and create construction plans and specifications.
Additional Information
  • This position supports a hybrid work model.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30% of the time, including occasional overnight trips.

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,100 - $147,660 USD annually. This range reflects the average expected compensation for a qualified candidate. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as geography, experience, and education.

In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
