Position Overview:

The Early Childhood Speech Therapist will be an integral part of a collaborative team within our Birth to Three Program. This role focuses on delivering essential early intervention services to families and their children from birth to age three.

Utilizing evidence-based practices, the Speech Therapist will engage in coaching, facilitate natural learning environments, and assist families in accessing valuable resources. The primary goal is to empower caregivers and enhance the developmental trajectory of children.


Key Responsibilities:


Support the mission of Crossroads School by actively participating in community advocacy and promoting financial sustainability through involvement in fundraising initiatives.

Ensure that services provided align with the latest research and best practices in early childhood speech and language development.

Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify speech and language capabilities in relation to educational, social, medical, and psychological factors.

Offer expert consultation to team members regarding assistive technology and strategies for speech, language, and oral motor development.

May serve as the primary service provider for families, coordinating necessary services and assisting in the development of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP).

Review IFSP outcomes to ensure that goals for speech and language development are realistic and attainable.

Maintain comprehensive documentation and child files throughout the enrollment process.

Provide parents with strategies, exercises, and resources to support their child's speech and language growth.

Collaborate with a trans-disciplinary team to establish clear and measurable speech and language goals.

Facilitate communication between school personnel and families to ensure smooth transitions and understanding of special education laws.

Build and maintain strong relationships with community resource representatives to assist families in accessing necessary support.

Participate in required meetings and training sessions to stay informed about developments in early intervention practices.

Perform additional duties as assigned by management and maintain up-to-date training relevant to the position.


Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech Therapy and a valid state license as a Speech Therapist.

Familiarity with various assessment tools and early intervention strategies is essential.

Strong understanding of trans-disciplinary models and family-centered practices is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is necessary for documentation and reporting.

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are mandatory.


Skills and Attributes:

Ability to work effectively within a multicultural community and adapt resources accordingly.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective verbal communication are essential.

Ability to provide emotional support and reassurance to families during the intervention process.

Physical capability to engage with infants and toddlers, including lifting as needed.
