Position Overview: The role of the Patient Care Services Manager is to assist the Director of Patient Care Services in the creation, execution, and assessment of the patient care delivery framework and associated nursing practice standards, in partnership with the nursing leadership team. This position is pivotal in ensuring the excellence of patient care and encompasses leadership, strategic planning, coordination, management, and evaluation of the unit's operations. The manager is accountable for maintaining quality standards, financial performance, employee engagement, and enhancing patient experiences in accordance with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership in Nursing Standards: Strategically plan, organize, and assess nursing practice standards within the unit.
  2. Accountability: Assume 24/7 responsibility for supervising personnel and ensuring optimal patient care through efficient resource utilization.
  3. Team Development: Provide mentorship, coaching, and constructive feedback while fostering a collaborative work environment to achieve high-quality services and employee engagement.
  4. Training Compliance: Reinforce the significance of established training protocols and ensure all team members fulfill their training obligations within designated timelines.
  5. Goal Achievement: Lead the unit towards achieving departmental objectives and support the Director in reaching strategic growth targets.
  6. Fiscal Management: Oversee effective financial management of the department to ensure the prudent use of financial resources, demonstrating the ability to analyze data to support business decisions.
  7. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Facilitate communication across departments to enhance operational effectiveness, working closely with physicians and other organizational leaders.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to departmental regulations and standards through established policies and practices, focusing on quality service delivery and identifying opportunities for performance improvement and patient safety.
  9. Service Excellence: Cultivate an environment that promotes service excellence and exemplifies positive interactions with staff, patients, and families.
  10. Open Communication: Encourage a culture of open communication, ensuring that information is shared regularly to support effective operations and positive employee relations.
  11. Professional Development: Commit to personal and professional growth to maintain current knowledge in the field, collaborating with the Department of Professional Development to create educational programs that enhance staff skills and foster professional advancement.
  12. Shared Governance Participation: Support nursing leadership and staff involvement in the shared governance model, acting as a mentor to enhance understanding of this framework.
  13. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or an advanced nursing degree required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related fields preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role; nursing certification in leadership or related specialty preferred.
  • Professional Membership: Membership in a healthcare/nursing professional organization preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid RN license in the relevant state.
Working Conditions:
  • Physical Effort: Primarily sedentary/light effort, with the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force.
  • Environmental Exposure: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and other occupational risks.
