Position Summary:
As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting patient care activities and performing various unit tasks under the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals and management.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver compassionate physical care to assigned patients while executing technical skills such as point of care (POC) testing.
2. Promptly implement nursing directives with a clear understanding of their objectives.
3. Adhere to established policies and procedures for patient care activities, including the use of unit-specific equipment.
4. Enhance patient comfort by assisting with positioning, bathing, and ensuring personal items are within reach.
5. Ensure patient safety through preventive measures, including the use of side rails, restraints, and alarms, along with regular rounding.
6. Accurately document all relevant data in the electronic health record system.
7. Communicate pertinent patient and visitor information to the appropriate healthcare team members.
8. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating an understanding of developmental principles across the lifespan.
9. Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the supervising nurse, including unusual observations.
10. Prioritize tasks effectively, responding promptly to patient care needs.
11. Foster positive working relationships with all members of the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
12. Maintain a clean, organized work environment and assist in the upkeep of unit equipment.
13. Serve as a Safety Attendant/Patient Sitter, ensuring a secure environment for designated patients, in line with Nuvance Health's service excellence standards.
14. Participate in staff meetings and review all meeting documentation.
15. Maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
16. Fulfill all compliance responsibilities associated with the role.
17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma and zero to six months of relevant experience. While experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, it is not mandatory. Active CNA certification is preferred, and BLS/CPR certification is required within 90 days of employment.
