Job Summary

The Front Desk Supervisor provides guidance and leadership as the lead Front Office Clerk, ensuring consistent quality customer service is delivered. Key responsibilities include communicating effectively with staff and guests, monitoring lobby traffic, and making staffing adjustments as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with staff and guests to provide clear direction and resolve customer complaints
  • Monitor lobby traffic and make staffing adjustments to ensure efficient service
  • Greet guests immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
  • Promptly complete the registration process and input information into the computer system
  • Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs and requirements
  • Handle cash, make change, and balance the house bank
  • Accept and record vouchers, traveler's checks, and other forms of payment
  • Convert foreign currency at current posted rates and perform accurate arithmetic functions
  • Post charges to guest rooms and house accounts using the computer system
  • Answer the telephone using positive and clear English language and input messages into the computer
  • Retrieve messages and communicate the content to the guest
  • Retrieve mail, small packages, and facsimiles for hotel guests as requested
  • Remain calm and alert during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for Front Office Staff and other employees
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
  • Basic mathematical skills required
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
  • Ability to stand, walk, and continuously perform behind the front desk
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and prepare complex reports of room availability and revenues generated
Education and Experience

The individual must possess a high school diploma and some college education is preferred. No prior experience is required, but two years of combined prior front desk and supervisory experience is preferred.

Compensation

The compensation for this position is $22.00/Yr. - $25.00/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
