Position Overview

Role Summary
The Assistant Chief of Staff will collaborate closely with the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs to oversee a range of institutional projects and initiatives on behalf of the Office of the Provost. This role is pivotal in aligning priorities with the University’s Strategic Plan and academic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
75% of Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Provost to establish, communicate, and manage institutional priorities and initiatives.
  • Draft public speeches, executive correspondence, and published communications on behalf of the Office of the Provost.
  • Facilitate coordination and alignment across the organization to achieve goals while identifying opportunities and challenges.
  • Engage with faculty, staff, and administration on both internal and external projects representing the University.
  • Lead designated projects assigned by the Provost, focusing on strategic initiatives that support the University’s mission.
  • Manage complex, high-visibility strategic initiatives and programs.
  • Oversee project management tasks across multiple initiatives.
  • Develop and implement systems to identify, communicate, and monitor key organizational priorities and projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on various projects related to academic affairs.
  • Participate in significant internal and external meetings as needed.
  • Create detailed project plans, timelines, deliverables, and metrics, managing contributions from project partners throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and produce background materials for the Provost.
  • Act as a liaison to various units in academic and student affairs to promote the university's strategic goals for academic excellence and student success.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a relevant field (administration, project management, or related area), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated success in building effective partnerships across diverse groups to facilitate decision-making and ensure implementation.
  • Proven ability to engage with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A graduate degree from an accredited institution and 6 years of progressive leadership experience in a relevant field (administration, project management, or related area), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Leadership and management experience.
