Cutting Equipment Specialist

Mittera is actively seeking skilled Cutter Operators to enhance our Finishing team. The role involves the setup, calibration, and safe operation of cutting machinery. Additionally, Cutter Operators are responsible for preparing products for packing, collating, or binding, ensuring all produced items adhere to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and adjust cutting machines according to operational guidelines and job specifications.
  • Input automatic cutting programs manually into the cutting equipment.
  • Operate cutting machinery and associated tools to achieve desired material dimensions.
  • Assess and determine product quality during the cutting process.
  • Examine job tickets and strategize work processes to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of press sheets, including dates and counts.
  • Monitor the assigned machinery throughout production runs to ensure compliance with specifications and make necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including blade changes, lubrication, and waxing.
  • Report mechanical or electrical issues to supervisors and complete maintenance requests for necessary repairs.
  • Prepare load flags for outgoing shipments indicating the next operation or destination.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • 1 to 3 years of prior experience in cutting operations is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and business communications effectively.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurements, to solve practical issues.
  • Capable of interpreting various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.
  • Adept at preventing errors and resolving issues on all prepress machinery.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Organized with the capacity to plan, prioritize, and follow through on assigned projects with minimal oversight.
Physical Requirements:

  • Must utilize proper body mechanics when pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bending.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and coordination.
  • Near visual acuity is necessary.
  • Must be able to navigate and access all departments within the facility.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
Work Environment:

While performing job duties, employees may occasionally encounter fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to hazardous materials. The position regularly involves working near moving mechanical components.
