SENECA TANK JOB OVERVIEW

POSITION TITLE: Liquid Bulk Equipment Technician DEPARTMENT: Service

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Express Repair Service Manager

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Express Repair Service Manager, the individual in this role is tasked with identifying issues related to the structure and operation of liquid bulk storage tanks, chassis, and fluid distribution systems. Responsibilities include the repair and replacement of components as determined by diagnostic assessments, as well as the installation of supplementary parts to enhance existing equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not entail any supervisory duties.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Review service orders to ascertain tasks to be executed based on customer specifications and/or directives from the Express Repair Service Manager (20%)
2. Replace defective components to restore optimal functionality of equipment (20%)
3. Install additional parts to current units to improve performance and/or efficiency (20%)
4. Repair malfunctioning components, which may involve welding and fabricating parts and sub-parts (20%)
5. Conduct tests mandated by the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) on petroleum tanks and chassis (10%)
6. Diagnose structural and operational issues with liquid bulk tanks, chassis, and fluid delivery systems to pinpoint necessary repairs (10%)

Required Skills:

- Proficient knowledge of the appropriate use, maintenance, and repair of tools utilized in this role, including hand, electric, pneumatic, and gas-welding/cutting tools.
- Ability to accurately operate all tools necessary for essential job functions, such as hand/power tools and metal brakes/band saws.
- Competence in repairing machinery or systems using required tools.
- Familiarity with safety regulations typical in motor vehicle repair environments.
- Capability to read and comprehend instructions, procedures, policies, and regulations found in work orders and safety manuals.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective time management abilities.

Equipment Used:

Hand, power, and stationary tools including screwdrivers, wrenches, electric drills, pneumatic ratchets, welding/cutting torches, metal brakes, and metal-cutting band saws.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds consistently. Visual acuity is necessary for tasks requiring clarity of vision at various distances. The individual must be capable of performing activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive motions.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T) regulations concerning petroleum tanks/trailers, along with the policies outlined in Seneca Tank's Safety Manual.

Employment Conditions:

Job holders are required to supply their own tools.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience in building or repairing diesel, gas, or hydraulic equipment using hand, electric, and pneumatic tools.
