Position Overview:

The Cost Accounting Specialist will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive standard costing analyses that bolster operational and sales strategies. This position requires close collaboration with manufacturing teams to scrutinize standard costs linked to production workflows.

The specialist is tasked with generating detailed reports that delineate and contrast elements influencing pricing and profitability of products or services. Furthermore, they will assist in conducting internal audits of cycle counts and physical inventory assessments to guarantee the precision and dependability of inventory data.

Monitoring inventory through regular audits and quarterly assessments for surplus and obsolete stock will also be a key responsibility. The Cost Accounting Specialist will significantly contribute to cost analysis, efficiency optimization, and providing insightful data to decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the closing processes for monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Serve as an advisory and control resource for financial statements.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of group specifications in financial reporting.
  • Engage in planning activities within cost center accounting.
  • Gather cost data and maintain an expense database.
  • Plan and document variable costs.
  • Review standard and actual costs for discrepancies.
  • Prepare budgetary reports and analyze profit margins.
  • Forecast costs and identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Oversee and analyze organizational cost expenditures and purchases.

Additionally, the specialist will work alongside other financial professionals to provide essential financial and accounting support to executives and department heads in establishing organizational goals and budgets. They will collect and evaluate data regarding operational costs and introduce innovative processes within cost accounting.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Experience with SAP modules including FI, CO, PP, and MM.
  • A minimum of 5 years in Cost Accounting, particularly in Cost Center and Order Accounting.
  • Familiarity with order settlement and CO-PA (Profitability Analysis).
  • Knowledge of international accounting standards and US GAAP.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cost center and project accounting.
  • Project management skills.
Additional Skills:

Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Excel (including VLOOKUPs and Pivot tables), along with experience in automating reports and developing dashboards within a SAP environment is essential.

Language and Reasoning Skills:

The role requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, and present persuasive arguments on intricate topics. Strong mathematical skills are necessary for applying advanced concepts and performing detailed analyses.
