ABOUT HOUSING FAMILIES

Role Overview: The Shelter Program Coordinator will oversee the Shelter Programs, ensuring effective support and management. This role involves direct supervision of shelter team leaders to guarantee the delivery of high-quality services to individuals in the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guarantee that all families receive services with dignity and respect.
  • Ensure compliance with various funding sources in service delivery.
  • Exemplify Housing Families and DEIB values to all staff, fostering a work environment aligned with these principles.
  • Maintain accurate records for both staff and clients.
  • Supervise a proficient team of shelter leaders and staff, including hiring, training, team development, and promoting equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Collaborate with team leaders to devise innovative housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness, including extensive housing searches, barrier mitigation, resource referrals, budgeting assistance, landlord networking, and securing funding options.
  • Review and allocate new clients while staying informed about significant issues related to individual cases.
  • Engage in intra-agency meetings focused on client, case management, or staffing matters.
  • Complete reports promptly, ensuring adherence to guidelines and accuracy of outcomes.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance team to uphold property standards in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure the safety of facilities and guests by enforcing program rules and regulations.
  • Compile program data and monitor expenditures of various contracts.
  • Efficiently manage resources within the program budget.
  • Address crises as they arise and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Participate in All Staff meetings and relevant training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in direct client engagement within the human services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of affordable and subsidized housing options.
  • Proven experience in providing direct supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple ongoing projects, along with strong communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quick to learn new software and tracking systems.
  • Understanding of the effects of trauma, homelessness, and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
  • Preferred experience in managing program funding and facilitating group sessions.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish or Haitian Creole is advantageous.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Willingness to work in the designated service area with reliable transportation.
  • Availability to work standard business hours with some flexibility for after-hours responsibilities.
  • Unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Must pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds and navigate stairs.
  • Capable of sitting for extended periods while working on a computer.
