Position Overview

Job Title: Behavioral Support Specialist

Reports to: Program Director & Executive Director

Compensation: $50,000 - $62,000 annually

Role Summary:

Become a vital member of Team Serenity, dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with distinct medical and behavioral challenges. As a Behavioral Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in crafting individualized strategies and fostering positive behavioral interventions within our Residential Supported Living environment.   • Support Services Integration:
  • Formulate and revise positive behavior support strategies.
  • Champion understanding of positive behavioral interventions and trauma-informed practices.
  • Client Coordination:
  • Manage intake processes and lead behavior/crisis intervention efforts.
  • Offer emotional support to residents while collaborating with healthcare providers.
  • Behavior Support Strategy Development:
  • Evaluate residents and create tailored Behavior Support Plans.
  • Educate staff on both proactive and reactive intervention techniques.
  • Collaborative Teamwork:
  • Engage in service planning discussions and coordinate with DHS Case Managers.
  • Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Participate in weekly meetings and fulfill necessary administrative tasks.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Background in crisis management with excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Capacity to prioritize responsibilities and engage with diverse populations.

Educational Preferences:

  • A degree in Special Education, Psychology, or Human Services is preferred.
  • Experience in group homes for individuals with developmental disabilities or adults with disabilities is advantageous.
