Within Bruker Nano, a key segment of our operations, we cater to academic and governmental institutions, as well as life sciences, materials, and applied industries, equipping them with the necessary tools to analyze matter characteristics and visualize molecular structures. Our divisions include Bruker AXS, Bruker Nano Analytics, Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Canopy.
Responsibilities
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Buyer/Planner is tasked with executing purchasing and planning activities, ensuring that materials are procured in a timely manner, meeting demand and quality standards while optimizing costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the procurement of materials, components, equipment, and services in a cost-effective manner.
- Manage daily purchase order placements and coordinate the timely delivery of goods and services.
- Engage in daily interactions with suppliers to maintain effective business relationships.
- Support adherence to purchase demand contracts and negotiated pricing.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing departments to ensure materials are available as scheduled and maintain inventory at acceptable levels.
- Monitor and report on departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Participate in negotiations for material suppliers, equipment, and services, including soliciting bids and analyzing quotes.
- Address diverse challenges requiring data analysis and evaluation of factors such as product lifecycle, sole source constraints, geographic conditions, and supplier consolidation.
- Exhibit sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for problem-solving, typically working with minimal supervision.
- Adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures as mandated by regulatory and company standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is essential.
Must demonstrate self-motivation, sound judgment, effective decision-making, and strong communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Experience in low-cost country outsourcing and currency management is advantageous.
Working knowledge of pull systems, Kanban, and JIT replenishment strategies is preferred.
Technical purchasing experience is required.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred (ideally in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering) with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in procurement, particularly in purchasing mechanical and electronic components and assemblies.
Bruker offers a competitive base salary as part of our comprehensive compensation package. The estimated salary range for this full-time position is between $69,500 and $110,000 annually, with opportunities for advancement as you grow within the role. Salary will be determined based on various job-related factors, including education, training, experience, geographic location, skills, and competencies. Full-time employees may also qualify for performance-related incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental coverage, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance programs, and paid time off.
