Job Overview:
As a Grocery Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the ordering, replenishment, and merchandising of grocery items while actively participating in the Whole Foods Market (WFM) program for purchasing and promotions. Your role will involve monitoring inventory levels and ensuring products are replenished according to WFM standards.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Complete comprehensive training for Order Writers.
2. Replenish inventory through effective purchasing practices.
3. Order both perishable and non-perishable grocery items while maintaining optimal back stock levels.
4. Monitor open purchase order reports and act on them promptly and accurately.
5. Control spoilage and shrinkage; participate in inventory counts and cycle counting.
6. Execute spoilage and inventory management processes, including sampling and temperature checks.
7. Ensure timely and accurate product orders to optimize inventory turnover.
8. Oversee customer special order procedures.
9. Analyze and manage product transfers, waste, and spoilage.
10. Support leadership in conducting inventory assessments.

Customer Service Excellence:
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer needs promptly and effectively. Model suggestive selling techniques and maintain a positive company image through courteous interactions with customers and team members.

Sales Maximization:
Enhance sales potential by following proper procedures for product preparation, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising.

Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to established procedures, including health and sanitation regulations, ensuring a clean and safe working environment. Report any safety hazards immediately.

Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of grocery products.
- Proficient in grocery merchandising expectations.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
- Basic math skills and familiarity with computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Passion for natural foods and alignment with Whole Foods Market's mission.
- Retail experience of 12+ months is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged standing and walking (6-8 hours daily).
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
