Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Buyer/Planner is tasked with executing purchasing and planning functions to ensure timely delivery of materials that meet demand and quality standards at optimal costs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversee the procurement of materials, components, and services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  2. Manage daily purchase order placements and ensure compliance with delivery schedules.
  3. Engage in daily interactions with suppliers to facilitate procurement processes.
  4. Support adherence to purchasing contracts and negotiated pricing.
  5. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure material availability and maintain inventory levels.
  6. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.
  7. Participate in negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing and procurement terms.
  8. Analyze diverse problems requiring evaluation of various factors such as product lifecycle and supplier consolidation.
  9. Exercise sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods for problem-solving.
  10. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety policies as mandated by regulatory and company standards.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is essential.

Must demonstrate self-motivation, sound judgment, and effective communication skills.

Ability to thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Experience in low-cost country outsourcing and currency management is advantageous.

Knowledge of pull systems, Kanban, and JIT replenishment strategies is beneficial.

Technical purchasing experience is required.


EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred (ideally in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering) along with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in procurement, particularly in purchasing mechanical and electronic components.

Bruker offers a competitive base salary, which is part of a comprehensive compensation package. The salary range for this position is between $69,500 and $110,000, influenced by various job-related factors. Full-time employees may also qualify for performance-related incentives and a full suite of benefits, including 401(k) plans with company matching, stock purchase options, medical and dental coverage, life insurance, and paid time off.
