A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HOSPICE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR

This role encompasses scheduling, phone triage, and the meticulous review and generation of patient documentation for the Hospice Program. Additionally, this position provides essential administrative support to the Hospice team. Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting thorough reviews for hospice admissions and recertifications to ensure clinical accuracy.
  • Fostering a culture of learning and openness to empower staff with the knowledge necessary for maintaining compliance.
  • Staying informed on electronic health record processes and daily operations by analyzing data and communicating updates to staff.
  • Coordinating scheduling for the Hospice and Palliative care team in collaboration with leadership and staff.
  • Managing telephone triage for the hospice and palliative care team, addressing client and staff inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Establishing and maintaining an efficient electronic filing system for effective data management.
  • Providing coverage for the Front Desk Receptionist as needed.
  • Assisting in the review of hospice billing from various sources to ensure accuracy, including diagnosis and patient status.
  • Generating contracts for other hospices, community care facilities, and vendors as required.
  • Coordinating the dissemination of information for interdisciplinary team and clinical staff meetings as requested.
  • Maintaining a daily census report of patient activities, including admissions, discharges, transfers, and other relevant data.
  • Performing various administrative tasks to ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Discharging patients in accordance with agency policies upon notification from hospice clinicians.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in healthcare, specifically in medical records or administrative roles within a medical environment is required. Experience in a hospice setting is preferred.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and proof of auto insurance is mandatory.
