Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Export Control Specialist. This position will support our International Trade Compliance team and will be responsible for:

  • Export Control Compliance: Serve as an Empowered Official, making jurisdiction and classification decisions, and coordinating exports and imports.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Provide guidance on ITAR and EAR regulations, and maintain export-related record keeping functions.
  • Training and Development: Conduct export training to new and current employees, providing customized content for specific audiences and special programs.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with employees and Naval Reactors in support of overall NR Program goals and needs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in at least one state of operation.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in export control compliance, preferably with the Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and understand complex regulatory documents and applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Skills

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience with Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission export regulations.
  • DOE M&O experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret, understand and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on complex regulatory documents and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy required.
  • Possess advanced working knowledge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Be able to research, analyze and interpret U.S. and international trade regulations and laws and determining their effect on operations.
  • Must have experience with applications, licensing, voluntary disclosures, audits, and compliance programs related to export control and compliance.
  • Experience filing Electronic Export Information (EEI) in the Automated Export System (AES) for international shipments when EEI is required, coordinating as needed with freight forwarder/customs broker for export clearance purposes to include ATA Carnet and other international shipment logistics support.

Pay Range

The salary range for this position is $137,200 - $218,700 annually.
