Overview

The Field Sales Consultant is an accomplished sales professional with a strong history of success, dedicated to delivering outstanding service in tailored design and organizational solutions for residential spaces. This position involves designing and marketing bespoke custom environments to clients in their residences through scheduled appointments. The consultant oversees and orchestrates all stages of client projects, from initial in-home consultations and design to installation and organization, ensuring a smooth and satisfying customer journey. Additionally, this role is responsible for cultivating repeat business, obtaining customer referrals, and generating new leads alongside those provided by the company. This position is part of a Custom Space Field Sales and Design team serving the local market and offers a competitive base salary along with an attractive monthly bonus structure linked directly to sales achievements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly achieves or surpasses individual sales targets, conversion rates, and positive customer satisfaction scores.
  • Inspires, conceptualizes, and confidently presents comprehensive, functional, and visually appealing solutions for various areas within a home.
  • Establishes trust and rapport with clients, comprehending their needs to design and propose projects and personalized plans in a clear and professional manner.
  • Manages and maintains multiple concurrent client projects with a high degree of detail, accuracy, and timely follow-up, ensuring consistent and clear communication with clients and team members.
  • Develops a client base and generates new leads through ongoing customer relationships, networking, referrals, and leads generated internally and externally.
  • Collaborates and communicates consistently with Store Leadership, store personnel, and corporate partners to ensure seamless project completion from inquiry to installation.
  • Stays updated and adheres to The Container Store's training, certification, sales techniques, product knowledge, promotions, processes, and philosophies when engaging with customers and team members.
  • Effectively utilizes company tools and email to manage all aspects of customer relationships from consultation to completion.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and insights to Store Leadership and Custom Spaces Market Manager regarding sales, service, and areas for improvement.
  • Assists clients with sensitive information related to the company's credit card and application processes.
  • Arrives punctually for all scheduled appointments and other required assignments.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all sensitive company and customer information.
  • Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

  • Preferred college degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in outside sales, with custom closet experience being a plus.
  • Proven history of exceeding sales objectives and a drive for ongoing success.
  • Self-motivated, organized, creative, solutions-oriented, and effective in managing time and schedules to efficiently close projects and achieve goals.
  • Knowledgeable in design principles, with experience in outside sales and the custom space sector.
  • Maintains a professional appearance while representing The Container Store.
  • Passionate about trends in custom spaces, interior design, fashion, and retail.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to client homes for scheduled appointments.
  • Must possess valid automobile insurance and pass state vehicle inspections.
  • Must comply with safety regulations, including passing a Motor Vehicle Records check and a criminal background investigation.
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency in Outlook, Word, and familiarity with Excel, Salesforce, and design software.
  • Ability to work in a state of alertness and safety.
  • Capability to work effectively and efficiently outside the store in accordance with the Company Telecommuting Policy.
  • Commitment and flexibility to manage schedules and work additional hours as needed by customers and the business.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to prioritize critical tasks and focus on high-value projects.
  • Flexible, with a positive attitude and a desire for knowledge.
  • Detail-oriented while working quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Makes strategic decisions in the best interest of customers and the company, processing information objectively.
