Avionics Systems Validation Engineer

Role Overview:This position is situated within the Blue Origin Engines division, concentrating on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of propulsion systems and engines.
Our versatile engine family is designed to power the next generation of rockets across commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight missions.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and manage Tester Systems requirements and validation strategies, overseeing components such as tester racks, hardware, software, harnesses, load boxes, sensors, and actuators from conception through to operational testing.
- Collaborate with Hardware and Software engineers to formulate comprehensive validation strategies and integrate Tester Systems effectively.
- Adhere to established systems engineering processes, setting entry and exit criteria for critical reviews including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Test Readiness Review (TRR).
- Oversee Tester Systems requirements and components throughout their lifecycle, from concept and design to verification and production testing for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Systems Integration Labs (SIL), and Automated Test Systems (ATS).
- Support architectural trade studies, performance characterization, specification, and device selection for Tester Systems.
- Conduct risk analyses and root-cause investigations for test discrepancies.
- Engage in program-level technology development, mission assurance, and process improvements, collaborating closely with key Engine and Vehicle stakeholders.
- Communicate development progress, risks, and challenges effectively to management.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
Minimum of 2 years of Systems Engineering experience in electronic hardware and/or software systems, particularly in the design, development, testing, and operation of Test Systems Hardware within the aerospace sector or similar safety-critical industries.
Hands-on experience and ability to work independently and collaboratively throughout the electronic assembly product lifecycle.
Familiarity with systems engineering practices per ARP4754A or equivalent standards, and knowledge of avionics hardware/electronics and software testing.
Experience with DO-330, DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 standards, along with designing complex testing environments and leading verification and validation activities.
Strong communication skills, ability to build trust, and a commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
Experience in systems engineering within aerospace systems, particularly with high-reliability safety-critical board assemblies.
Proficiency in scripting, programming, and analysis tools such as C/C#, MathCad, and experience with software development tools like git, gitlab, JIRA, and JAMA.
