The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a City Fund Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations for the urban region. This role is pivotal in managing daily accounting functions, which encompass general ledger maintenance, budget formulation, and the preparation of both internal and external financial statements. Additionally, the manager will coordinate with local accounting staff to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the City Fund Accounting Department, ensuring adherence to internal controls and deadlines.
  • Evaluate billing processes for all City Fund grants and contracts.
  • Track accounts receivable and establish a follow-up system for overdue receivables exceeding 90 days.
  • Support budget creation for new grants and contracts, reviewing all proposals prior to submission.
  • Generate monthly financial analyses and compile summary reports for presentation to various finance boards and committees, investigating any significant discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably within a non-profit social service organization, including some supervisory responsibilities.
  • CPA certification is advantageous.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to quickly learn accounting software and internal systems during the orientation period.
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent thinking and sound judgment.
  • Must be bondable, a collaborative team member, self-motivated, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to fulfill the essential duties of the position.
  • Comfortable working in an office setting, which includes computer usage and phone communication.
  • Most work will occur in a controlled indoor environment.
