The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a City Fund Accounting Manager. This role is pivotal in overseeing the daily financial operations for the metropolitan area. Responsibilities encompass managing the general ledger, budgeting processes, generating both internal and external financial statements, and collaborating with local accounting staff. Additionally, this position ensures adherence to grant and contract regulations related to revenue collection and audits.
This is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, organize, and direct the functions of the City Fund Accounting Department, ensuring robust internal controls, effective systems, and adherence to deadlines.
- Evaluate billing processes for all City Fund grants and contracts.
- Track accounts receivable and establish a follow-up system for receivables that are overdue by more than 90 days.
- Assist in the financial planning for new grants and contracts, and review all proposals prior to submission.
- Prepare monthly financial analyses and compile summary reports for presentation to the Divisional Finance Board, Finance Advisory Committee, and relevant advisory boards, investigating any significant variances.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably within a nonprofit social service organization, including some supervisory responsibilities.
- CPA certification is advantageous.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software and strong communication skills are essential.
- Must achieve proficiency in the accounting software and internal communication tools during the onboarding period.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and exercise sound judgment is required.
- Must be trustworthy, a collaborative team member, self-motivated, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Capable of working in an office setting, including computer usage and phone communication.
- Most tasks will be conducted indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
