Position Overview:

As a vital component of the Arts and Sciences Grants Administration Integrated Network (GAIN), the Grants and Accounts Specialist plays a crucial role in managing pre-award, post-award, and compliance functions for designated departments and programs.

This role is designed to deliver expert support and guidance concerning external funding practices, regulatory requirements from funding agencies, and the policies and procedures of A&S and Penn Foster Inc.

The individual in this position will oversee Contract & Grant Coordinators, providing essential training, development, and mentorship to new team members.


Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Award:
  • Coordinate all administrative functions for grant submissions to federal and private funding sources.
  • Assist principal investigators (PIs) in navigating submission portals and ensure timely preparation of necessary materials.
  • Interpret guidelines from external agencies and offer expert advice regarding allowable costs related to grants and contracts.
  • Collaborate with PIs to develop comprehensive budgets.
  • Provide guidance throughout the proposal development process, including necessary documentation.
  • Facilitate communication with other institutions for subagreements and collaborative efforts.
  • Stay informed about changes in federal regulations and educate stakeholders accordingly.

Post-Award:
  • Act as a liaison to central research offices, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and sponsor requirements.
  • Supervise and evaluate expenditures to ensure adherence to award conditions and university policies.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports for PIs, monitoring spending and invoicing.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of post-award documentation, including grant modifications and closeouts.

Management:
  • Lead a team of Contract and Grant Coordinators, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Address complex issues related to multidisciplinary proposals and intricate post-award tasks.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and development for team members to promote professional growth.
  • Escalate issues to supervisors as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with five years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with financial management systems and federal grant administration.
  • Experience with NSF, NIH, and other federal grant opportunities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field, with four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range: $52,000 - $88,800.00 Annually
