Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Reports To: Manager Global Supply

Job Overview:

As a Supplier Quality Engineer at Atlas Building Products, you will play a crucial role in assessing, developing, and overseeing suppliers to guarantee the efficiency, quality, and dependability of the supply chain. Your collaboration with suppliers will focus on enhancing their processes, quality management systems, and overall performance to align with company standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supplier Assessment and Selection:

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations and audits of suppliers to assess their capabilities, quality management systems, and adherence to industry regulations.
  • Support the identification and selection of new suppliers based on strategic sourcing objectives and project demands.
  • Establish and uphold a thorough supplier qualification framework.

2. Supplier Enhancement:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to pinpoint and implement process optimizations, cost-saving measures, and quality improvements.
  • Facilitate training initiatives for suppliers to elevate their capabilities and performance standards.
  • Monitor and analyze supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs).

3. Quality Control:

  • Partner with suppliers to create and execute quality control plans.
  • Ensure suppliers adhere to company quality benchmarks and regulatory standards.
  • Investigate and address quality concerns related to suppliers, including conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.

4. Project Coordination:

  • Lead and oversee supplier development initiatives to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to meet project objectives.
  • Track and report on project milestones, timelines, and deliverables.

5. Ongoing Improvement:

  • Promote continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain to enhance overall performance.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to introduce innovative solutions to the supply chain.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other process enhancement methodologies.

6. Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key suppliers to encourage collaboration and mutual growth.
  • Act as the primary liaison for suppliers concerning technical and quality-related matters.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in supplier development, quality assurance, or supply chain management, ideally within the construction fastener sector.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, standards, and methodologies (e.g., ISO, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in supplier management and quality assurance software/tools.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to supplier locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), Six Sigma Black Belt, or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing processes and technologies in the construction fastener industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to construction fasteners.

Work Environment:

  • This role may involve travel to supplier sites and manufacturing facilities.
  • Work will be conducted in both office and manufacturing environments.
