Job Overview

Position Summary: As a Substance Testing Specialist within Drug & Health Services Operations,

you will be responsible for conducting drug screening collections in accordance with DOT and non-DOT specimen collection protocols. You will ensure that the chain of custody documentation is accurately completed and respond to donors and clients in a professional and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
70% of your time will be dedicated to collecting specimens (urine, hair, oral fluid) for workplace drug and alcohol testing, which may include pre-employment, random, annual, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing. You may also perform Point-of-Care testing as required.

10% will involve completing necessary forms and documenting information according to established procedures. This includes verifying donor identification and adhering to testing protocols, ensuring compliance with chain-of-custody requirements, and noting any irregularities.

10% will be spent greeting donors and visitors in the collection area, screening them for medical history as needed, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the collection rooms.

5% will involve providing donors with detailed instructions in specific scenarios, such as direct observation collections, test refusals, and temperature range issues with urine specimens.

5% will be allocated to assisting colleagues with various projects during downtime and performing other incidental duties as necessary.

Work Environment: This is an in-office role.

Required Qualifications:

Must be willing to train the right candidate.

Certification as a DOT Urine Specimen Collector is required or must be obtained within two weeks of hire.

Certification in DOT Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) is also required or must be obtained within two weeks of hire.

A Hair Collection Training Certificate is required or must be obtained within thirty days of hire. Relevant certifications such as Nurse Assistant, Medical Technician, or Phlebotomy are advantageous.

Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail are essential.

Male candidates are preferred for direct observation of male specimen collections.

Educational Background:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Prior experience in a clinical or drug testing environment is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience in drug testing, breath alcohol testing, or related applications is beneficial.

Certifications in the medical field are a plus but not required.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is desirable.

Prior customer service experience is advantageous.

Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, with Spanish proficiency being a plus.

Experience with the DISAWorks system is beneficial.

• Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Work Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
